Tamie Pushlar, LCSW-R

Education

Tamie earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) from the University of South Carolina and holds the LCSW-R (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) credential in New York State. In 2012, she also obtained a Trauma Counseling Certificate from the University of Buffalo. She is professionally certified in EMDR and Progressive Counting.  

Professional Experience

Tamie has worked in the social work field for over 20 years post-Master. She started her career working at MHA of Westchester County as a clinical care coordinator in an urban setting working with adolescents with severe mental health and behavioral issues who are at risk for hospitalization. In 2003, she moved to the Ithaca area where she began a job at Cornell University with a program called AgrAbility. At Cornell, Tamie had the opportunity to travel throughout rural NY State providing supportive counseling and accessing resources for farming families. After the Agrability grant ended, she was employed at the William George Agency working as a social worker counseling adolescent boys with mental illness and intellectual disabilities. In addition to individual, group and family counseling, she assisted with discharge planning with schools and community services. In 2007, she worked at the Lighthouse and Possibilities Program providing individual, family, and group counseling with 6th through 12th graders who were in crisis and need additional social/emotional and academic support. Her experiences have afforded her the ability to understand the importance of working collaboratively with individuals, families and communities.

In June 2013, Tamie started a private practice at Community Corners in Ithaca, NY. Tamie works with adolescents and adults in individual or couples therapy. Tamie also provides clinical supervision, EMDR intensive and adjunctive therapy, training and consulting.
